Truly Scrumptious, A spoonfull of sugar & Simon says stamp

Sorry I have not posted again for a week but life has given us another kick in the teeth, my brother-in-laws sister collapsed suddenly on Sunday morning, it turned out she had an abscess on her brain, unfortunately it burst and we lost her the following day. She leaves behind a husband and 2 children aged 10 & 17!!

I am not sure what will happen on christmas day now as we had planned a big family christmas again this year, we usually spend christmas and boxing day with this poor family so I am not sure what we will do now, it really breaks my heart, she was only 49!!

I thought I would participate in a couple of challenges to cheer myself up today and I found a fab sketch over at Truly Scrumptious, they also have the option of Pearls, petals and bows, I managed the pearl bit....LOL

Here is my card, yes another baby one, not sure why I keep making them but at the moment I cannot face making christmas cards, just can't get into the spirit!

I thought I would use my very neglected Sizzix die, I cut the elephant out of felt.....sooooo cute!!! He is still available to buy here at Stampeezee

The paper is K & Co Itsy Bitsy and the nestie is Lacey circles available here, the sweet sentiment is by PTI's Baby Button Bits punched out with my SU word window punch

I am also entering my card into A spoonfull of Sugar & Simon says stamp which this week want to see us use our punches and die cuts

Thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a comment as I love reading them.Hugs

Baby Baby

Happy Sunday everyone, hope everyone is well in blogland!

I am pleased to say my brother is recovering well from his heart attack and finds himself now having to make big lifestyle changes! Mainly diet and reducing the amount of hours he puts in at work as seemingly working long hours and not resting/sleeping enough does not give the body enough time to break down the bad fats!!

I will be cutting down on the bad stuff I eat now as this has scared me!!

Anyway on a brighter note I have made 2 cards!! Woo hoo. I am trying to use all my unloved, unused stamps to make at least 2 cards each with them and although I should be making christmas cards, I have to make what my mojo wants to make and last night it was baby cards!!!

I made 2 cards using an Elzybell's baby image and a Hero Arts stamp, the DP is from my stash and the punch is Martha Stewarts Doily

I am going to make these in Pink and lemon so I have cards for a girl and an either or, I am trying build up my go to card stash so I am creating some simple designs that I can make in a jiffy, although saying that I decoupaged the sling and baby's head which took a little extra time!

I am also making myself finish off the insides with inserts etc and pop them into cello bags with envies, I have made loads of cards in the past and they end up all crushed and bent so I am trying to be good!!!

The little bit of colouring was done with Promarkers, Blush, dusky pink and pastel Pink, all available from Stampeezee.

Anyhow, I am off to my sisters house, she is cooking us Sunday lunch today...woo hoo, my 2 year old fridge (just out of WA) finally had to be switched off as it was giving off a burning smell so all my food is either in the bin or in other peoples fridges/freezers!! Can't believe it has died already after I paid £1300 for it!!!!

Anyway, have a great day

Passion For Papertrey

Get me, 2 posts in 1 day!!!

I just had to play along with this weeks Passion for Papertrey!! The challenge this week is to CASE a card made by one of the actual PTI DT!! Er, how many times can I enter??? I just love everything they do, especially Nichole...........I especially love how she breaks down her projects into step by step instructions!!

Anyway, I chose to CASE this little beauty below

I kept mine pretty much exact, I changed the colour obviously and I left out stamping the dots on the background......only because I struggle to get a crisp image with my SU inks, I find chalk inks are much better and I like Versafine for my words. I added some glamour dust to the lacy edges of the cake and Voila, card CASED, although mine does not seem to look as classy as Nichole's, but i have to say it is much prettier IRL.

Anyways I am off to bed now,

Thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a comment as I love reading them.

What a week!!!

Hi Peeps,

Well, I have not done a good job of following through my pact to enter those challenges I talked about in my last post have I??? Last week was sooooooooo busy, I had some commitment or other every night and with working full time I had no time at all to craft!!!

To top it all off I had a phone call Friday morning from my mum telling me my eldest brother had suffered a heart attack!!! I think the whole office heard me scream and then burst into tears!! (I don't handle that kind of stuff to well!!).

Anyway, I am relieved to say, he is ok and back at home. They had to put a stent in as there was a problem with one of the valves to the heart. It was such a shock as my brother is a fit fella, lorry driver is his profession and he does not smoke or indulge in fatty fry ups etc, neither is he overweight - he is the last person you would put on the heart attack candidate list!!! His wife was with him when it happened, she thankfully went to see if he was ok and intervened just in time!!!! I gave her the biggest hug ever.

Anyway, I have a couple of days off work so I have made a card. This one was inspired by my friend Debbie at Stampeezee, whom aside from running her business more or less single handed, manages to make a few cards to sell in the shop.......well I hang around this section of the shop all the time as these cards are just fab, Debbie has a simple but elegant style and I love ALL of her cards and I often buy all the ingredients just to re-create one of her masterpieces. So the last time I was in there I found a wedding card on the shelf that used a Sizzix cake embossing folder and it to my basket it jumped!!! It came as a set of 4 and I made the cake card exactly as Deb did and using a very similar style (Same DP and Ribbon etc) I used one of the other embossing folders that came in the pack and produced this:

Apologies for the picture quality, I am having to take pics on my i-phone as my lap top won't read the memory cards from any of our cameras, I think it is on its way out, just like my American fridge that is 3 months out of warranty and requires a new Circuit board.......grrrrr BEWARE if you are buying an American fridge, the engineer that came out today said thay are very problematic, especially the make I have which is a market leader!!!! Anyway I have found the part on the internet for £70 and it is a relatively small job to do!!! It will be interesting to get the quote from todays visit to see how much they try and sting us for!!!

Anyway, back to the card, Sizzix embossing folder, smothered in glamour dust, Magnolia DSP from the wedding collection and you can't see in the photo but the ribbon has little diamonds on it, I love it!!! All items were available at Stampeezee but I think I had the last of everything...LOL

Anyway, I will try and stop by your blogs soon, thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a comment as I love reading them.
