Blog Awards

I am back from my hols, got back Saturday night a bit earlier than planned but weather was rubbish and my son has a stomache bug & still has, visit to the GP for him tomorrow!!!! Had a good time though apart from finding out caravan had been leaking in the bathroom & we were greated to a mouldy room with a ruined vanity unit!!!! Still waiting for the repair estimate................I feel an ouch coming on!!!!

Anyway onto blog awards this one is from sweet Grace, if you have not visited her blog yet please pop by and say hi, she is only 12 and really talented.

A condition of this award is to list 5 things you may not know about me so here goes:

1. I am a qualified mechanic

2. I am only 4ft 11"

3. I have a very obsessive personality.....LOL makes me sound like a nutta!!!!

4. I am either tidy or untidy there is no in between, show home or devastation, mainly the latter though.............especially my craft room

5. I buy craft stuff to stroke instead of use, drives hubby mad & me if I am honest but I just can't stop............is there such thing as crafters anonymous?????

I am passing the award on to all the girls at Passion for Promarkers as I love all their blogs, they always make me smile.

This one is from Natalie, thanks sweetie, I am passing this one onto Grace as she really deserves it, her blog is fab.

Passion for Promarkers

Hopefully this has scheduled successfully as I am in Cornwall on my holidays, although I do have my I-Phone with me so I can keep a beady eye on my blog................yes I am sad!!!!!

This week on Passion for Promarkers the lovely Sue has chosen the colours Lilac, Lavender, Amethyst & Aubergine, such lovely colours & they matched perfectly with Basic Grey's Wisteria papers (my fave BG papers so far).

I used my neglected Magnolia Tilda with Bike and coloured her with the following Promarkers

  • Hair & Basket: Cocoa, Cinnamon & Sandstone
  • Clothes : Ivory, Lilac, Lavender, Amethyst & Aubergine
  • Skin: Blush, Dusky Pink, Pastel Pink
  • Bike: Ivory, Lilac, Lavender, Amethyst & Aubergine, Ice grey 1 & 5

The Sentiment & cardstock is Stampin up, flower & butterly punch from Hobbycraft, leaves MS Frond Punch, pins & Tulle from Stampeezee along with Tilda, BG papers & MS punch.

I have used Milled Lavender distress Ink to create a subtle edg to Tilda & the papers & the whole card sprayed with glimmer mist

Thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a comment as I love reading them.

Marmite card

Hope everyone is well, sorry about my lack of visiting bu I have been manic the past couple of weeks, we go on our holidays to Cornwall tomorrow so I have been catching up on time at work, washing, cleaning & doing DT cards in advance that are due whilst I am away.

I found time to pop to Stampeezee last night however & take part in a distressing class that they were running, (click on the Stampeezee link to see the display cards) they have a new artist teaching some of the classes & I just love her style, she is a big Tim Holtz fan so we set to work using some of his products & this is what I created

You will either love or hate this card hence the post title 'Marmite', personally I love it, I made a real mess.............we all did actually, my hands are still green this morning after scrubbing them!!!!! the class was really relaxed as there were no mistakes with this type of card making...............everything goes, I really loved the way each person in the class produced something totally different by using different colour Distress inks, cosmic shimmer mists & masks.

Please give your honest opinion about this card, I really like it but hubby was not impressed, he prefers the Magnolia style cards...LOL, I won't be offended I am just really interested. Anyway off to work now then packing for my hols tonight, yay.

Class on 11/08/2009

Happy Sunday to everyone, I thought I would show you the project we made at my class on Tuesday. I cheated a little, well a lot actually as I have had just too much on to think about lately, I purchased A Rose is a Rose class plan from the talented Jenny Moors.

It's a slider box complete with 4 cards with instructions for all you see in the picture, Jenny has also included comprehensive instructions on how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig, the 2 step stampin gives the most wonderful effect. I think the ladies enjoyed it as none of them had used any of the SU 2 step stamp sets & it this really is a beautiful project with so many possible adaptations.

If you would like to order any of the materials used in this class, please do not hesitate to contact me, there are free ribbons for customers spending £45 or over in 1 transaction, click here for details.
You can get your own copy of the Rose is a Rose class plan from Jenny's blog here for only £2.50, she also has lots of other fantastic plans available.
Anyway, hope you all have a great Sunday, I have 3 DT cards to make in advance as we go on our hols to Cornwall on Friday so I will be a tad busy, I also have to look after my very tired hubby as he returns from doing the 3 peaks challenge today, he has had to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, travel to the lakes, climb Scarfell Pike, travel to Wales & climb Snowdon & get back down, all in 24hrs for charity, he will be 1 tired man when he gets back!!!!
Anyway, I am offto craft, thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a comment as I love reading them.

Blog Awards

Phew, what a busy week I have had, I am so tired and not had a chance to get near the computer!!! My son, Jonathan came home from Scotland on Tuesday, I ran my card class on Tuesday night, he turned 13 the following day so we went to Thorpe Park as a treat.............some fab rides there I can tell you but mega busy & I was slightly put off by the need for all the security guards wearing Anti-stab vests!!!! They were needed though as we saw 2 lots of trouble!!!! It's not what you want at a family theme park.................think I will stick to Alton Towers & Drayton Manor next time!!!!!!!

I have been busy working the rest of the week & cleaning & cooking etc..................no time to craft/blog hop/leave comments etc, this is my first chance to sit down & have a nose at what you have all been up to.

Anyway, I have been a blog award twice once by the lovely Tracey & also by Tracey's lovely son Scott. Both blogs are well worth a visit & the very talented Scott has designed some new characters for Daisy & Dandelion, how cool is that, he is only 13!!!!!

Oh by the way, I saw the man at work that I did the Art Deco comission for today & his wife loved the card & is even going to frame it so I feel much better now.....men eh!!!

Passion for Promarkers & Basic Grey

Another week has flown by & time for another PFP challenge which this week is sponsered by www.yellowmoon.org.uk who are offering a £10 voucher to spend on their site.

Onto this weeks challenge, Natalie has chosen the yummy colours Cocoa & Rose Pink.

I have used a sweet Sugar Nellie Stamp called 'Reflective', which I have had months and never used ............yes I know it's criminal!!!! She has been coloured with Promarkers as follows:

Blush, Dusky Pink, Blossom, Rose Pink, Cocoa, Umber, Sandstone Grass & apple,

I followed the fab sketch from the revived Basic Grey challenge blog, and used my Sultry papers to qualify for the challenge. The Brown cardstock is SU & the Pink is Papermill. Iused my MS Doily lace punch for the Pink strip & the flower was created with the small and medium retro flower punches.
The sentiment is from the Stampin up 'Best Yet' hostess set & was punched out with the small SU Tag punch & layered on to the large, the ribbon & brads are from my stash.
By the way, I gave the man at work the card for his wife & I am not sure he liked it, it took him a while to say anything about it then about said it was OK, I ended up giving it him for nothing as I felt a bit cheeky charging for it........................needless to say after all the stress it caused me over the weekend & the cost I will not be doing anymore unless it is something they have already seen & liked!!!!!!
Thanks for looking, please feel free to leave a comment as I love reading them.

Art Deco Commission

Something very different from me.................this card has caused me a small headache!!! A man at work asked.....well sort of told me he wanted me to make a card for his wife who is 50!!!! I don't really do commissions but found my self saying yes, when I asked what she liked, he replied to my horror 'Art Deco'.

I looked everywhere for something suitable, the lovely Lynne from Rainbow Ribbons & Crafts lent me an Art Deco CD but I did not like how the images were printing out so I gave it back. I know now I was using the wrong paper!!!

I eventually saw an Art Deco calender on a colleagues desk at work, i begged to borrow it, took it home & photo copied 1 of the images onto photo paper. I matted & layered it onto red mirri board (emergency trip to Hobbycraft yesterday), used my computer to print the sentiment in the closest looking Art Deco font I could find which I then cut out with a nestie tag. The organza ribbon is also from yesterdays visit to Hobbycraft & the gems are from my stash.

This card is really not the type of thing I make so I was well out of my comfort zone, it seems a little basic but I think anymore would have ruined it, I hope his wife likes it!!!

Crafts for Eternity

I can't believe the weekend is nearly over already, I haven't done half the stuff I wanted to do!!! Anyway it's C4E sketch time again and this is my last post as a DT member. I am struggling to fit everything in at the moment as life is not quite going to plan & I have also started running my own card making classes...........sooooooo busy. I hope to come back in the future but for now I will join in where I can.

So for my last DT card I have used one of my Ketto's, coloured with Promarkers, MME Bloom & Grow papers, nesties to create the shapes & a MS Punch, all available from Stampeezee.

The swirls are by Inkadinkado & covered in Stickles, the sentiment is Penny Black & the flowers & bling dots are from my stash

Hope you all have a nice relaxing Sunday

Passion for Promarkers, Just Magnolia & Simon says stamp

Yay it's PFP time again and this week Michelle has designed a fabby sketch for us to follow and allowed the use of any colour Promarkers, I have just adopted Magnolia Gloria the hippo from Stampeezee and was itching to use her, i teamed her up with MME Asparagus papers which I have inked & distressed to qualify for the Just Magnolia & Simon Says Stamp challenges.

The sentiment is Penny Black........again and the flowers are from Papriloftet and my stash. The leaves were created with my Martha Stewart Frond punch available from Stampeezee , talking of which they have just taken delivery of Magnolia designer paper, it is lovely check it out here. I treated gloria & the flowers to some crystal stickles, not sure if you can see it clearly in the pic.

I hope you can play along this week, this week we are sponsered by Wendy of Secret Crafter, 1 lucky winner will get 6 promarkers of their choice. If you have never visited Secret crafter before it is well worth a visit, click here to be taken to shopping paradise

C4E Sketch Challenge, Just Magnolia & Simon Says Stamp

Sunday already, where has the weekend gone??? Well I was working yesterday so lost half of it really, better make the most today crafting, got loads to do, inluding playing with my new birthday stash, woo hoo.
Anyway, onto this weeks card, over at C4E we have another sketch for you, got to say this one challenged the old grey matter somewhat, not sure I have done it justice to be honest!!!!

There is also an additional theme this week which is 'Holiday' I thought my new Beach Tilda & Bathing ring would be perfect!!! I used the masking technique to sit Tilda on her ring, Isn't she cute??? Stampeezee have both items in stock here at the moment

The papers are Imaginisce getting hotter, need water & a shore thing sun ripe stripe, the border punch is Martha Stewart & the sentiment is by Unity Stamps - Mix up of cuteness collection, all these items are available at Stampeezee. The flourishes are Inkadinkado stamped in SU Night of Navy & glittered with stickles

Tilda was coloured in with Promarkers & highlighted with a white pen, I distressed all the edges of the elements with SU Pixie pink ink so I am also entering this card into Just Magnolia & Simon Says Stamp, both challenges are to include distressing on your card.

Pop over to the C4E blog to see that fab inspiration on offer, Andie & Suzette have their first DT cards to show you and you won't be dissapointed, big welcome to you both girls.
